SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)–Shell Australia hasn’t fixed a date for restarting its Clyde refinery, which was shut late-November for maintenance and upgradation, the company said Wednesday.
“No decision has yet been taken on a restart date…Shell has a big program of work to complete before the refinery can resume operation,” Paul Zennaro, spokesman of Shell Australia, said in an e-mailed response to Dow Jones Newswires query.
The Australian arm of Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA) took the refinery offline indefinitely to upgrade it, following unplanned outages that disrupted operations over the previous year.
The Clyde refinery, with a crude processing capacity of 86,000 barrels a day, used to produce 4.93 billion liters of petroleum products a year.
Due to the shutdown, Shell Australia imports refined products to feed its local requirement, according to earlier statements from the company.
Separately, the company is expected to reach a new 3-year labor agreement soon with workers at the refinery after successful negotiations, Zennaro said.
Such talks take place regularly between the company and its union, and the refinery’s revamp work has progressed as per plans during the negotiations, he said.

Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
