AN OPEN LETTER

Dear Mr. Brandjes

I am disappointed, but perhaps not surprised, that Shell management has not been gallant enough to make any comment about the death of my father, a 96 year old 2nd World War veteran who had a business relationship with Shell stretching back over 50 years, the majority of which was mutually beneficial and friendly.

Is there not an ounce of chivalry and straightforward good manners somewhere at the top of Shell?

Was it impossible to come up with some carefully worded acknowledgement of the passing of a committed adversary?

I have waited a week before contacting you to register my disgust.

I know from Shell internal documents that Shell has speculated over what would happen to the Donovan website when my father died.

I will answer that question within this open letter.

I also know from Shell internal documents that the website is closely monitored from both sides of the Atlantic, with internal emails being fired off within minutes of us publishing news articles potentially embarrassing to Shell.

I wrote to you earlier this week passing on an exclusive interview request to Mr. Voser from a major Chinese media company. As you know, we receive and process, in accordance with your instructions, a constant flow of communications intended for Shell, including hundreds of job applications and business proposals. All are dealt with promptly and politely without us ever saying anything negative about Shell to any of these third parties. That is how I dealt with the interview request. That will remain my policy.

I note that there was no response from you to my email. Not even a polite acknowledgement. Perhaps you thought it might look bad to respond without mentioning my father?

It seems that Shell senior management hate us so much that any pretence at being civilised has been ditched.

It is a great shame that Shell has sunk that low.

I am sure you are well aware of the current news focus on the pending publication of a list of rogue private investigators said to have worked for law firms and directly or indirectly for major corporations. Shell of course went one further. Not only did you use rogue undercover agents working for the seedy law firm DJ Freemans, you actually ran your own private spy firm that engaged in all manner of dirty tricks against perceived enemies of Royal Dutch Shell, including Greenpeace. Exactly the type of intimidation and unholy activities directed against us.  The spying on us has continued for over a decade. We have the evidence from Shell internal documents, with details confirmed by a whistleblower – a very high level spook from within Shell Global Security.

And now the lid is about to be blown off the Corrib Gas Project Corruption scandal, whereby Shell, using the services of OSSL, bribed hundreds of Irish police officers up to very senior level and engaged in all manner of illegal activity in a failed attempt to smooth the path of the highly controversial project that has been delayed by years and is billions over-budget. As you know, Mr Voser personally intervened in this matter and is now linked with the scandal.

I wonder if Mr Voser will be replying to this email from OSSL?

Subject: Obstructing justice …police enquiry  Shell CEO false statement demands  THIRD REQUEST

Dear Sir ,

Shell CEO Michael Crothers through KPMG  informed OSSL that to divulge details of Shell /OSSL activity on the Corrib involving the local police force could result in a prison sentence for the members of OSSL involved .

Mindful of the heading above ,and the investigation starting next week ,can you clarify where Shell stand on this matter , and indicate if that threat is designed to deter OSSL from cooperating with this police enquiry .

The OSSL Company .

OSSL EMAIL ENDS

I will continue to provide a free platform for Shell whistleblowers, whether located in Nigeria, Russia, the USA, Ireland, the Arctic, or anywhere else where Shell tentacles reach. I will continue to publish information about Shell that others would not dare to do so.

Finally, I take this opportunity of publicly thanking all of the many people, including former Shell executives, who have either sent me condolences privately, or posted them on the website. Some of the latter have offered kind words, while also making fair criticism. I sincerely thank all for their gentlemanly conduct that I greatly appreciate.

Unfortunately I cannot say the same for Shell.

Yours sincerely
John Donovan
