I have been with shell energy for 3 years and can honestly say it is the worst company I have ever dealt with.

After 2 years they cancelled my contract without my knowledge. I then found out that this resulted from my neighbour accidently putting my flat number which resulted in them terminating my contract. After opening a new contract I experienced a variety of different problems such as my bills being higher than what the contract states and my internet was running significantly slower. The customer service here is appalling.

With all these issues arising every couple of weeks I was constantly on the phone with customer service, every person I spoke with told me something different and I was constantly being told to speak with different departments as no one knows what they are doing. They reopened several contract for me with out my permission and when I wanted to leave the company due to all the hasses and no revolment of any of these issues, they then told me I had to pay for the full termination fee because it was a new contract. As stated above I did not agree to cancel or reopen my contract several times and i now should have been in my original contract for 9 months meaning I should only need to pay for the remaining 9 months ( it is a 18 month contract). But shell energy is insisting I pay for the full 18 month termination fee. I would highly suggest that everyone stays away from this company as they are only looking to scam and make more money read more

Shell postpones North Sea seismic job due to fishing, environmental concerns

Shell postpones North Sea seismic job due to fishing, environmental concerns

Shell has postponed a 3D seismic survey in the UK North Sea after weighing up the impacts on fishing businesses and the environment. By Mark Lammey: 06/01/2021, 7:45 am Partner Egdon Resources said the survey of the Resolution and Endeavour gas discoveries would take place in February 2022, rather than in the first quarter of this year.

Operator Shell made the decision following “extensive stakeholder engagement” and the revision of the environmental impact assessment.

The oil giant concluded that the commercial impact on local fishing businesses, along with potential impacts on marine mammalian movements, the breeding season for sea birds and tourism, meant it would be better to do the work in February.

The survey had originally been scheduled for March or April 2021. read more

Nigeria Repays Dues To Oil Majors

Nigeria Repays Dues To Oil Majors

By Tsvetana Paraskova – Oct 20, 2020, 12:30 PM CDT

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has repaid most of the arrears it owes to international oil companies for joint venture operating expenses, recently repaying US$3 billion to Exxon and Shell, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday, citing a statement from the Nigerian state oil firm.

NNPC works in joint ventures with the major international oil producers in Nigeria, including ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, Total, and Eni. However, the stretched finances of the Nigerian company has led to arrears in its payments for contributions to the operating expenses of those joint ventures. read more

Shell avoids loss with strong trading, wipes $17 billion off assets

Shell avoids loss with strong trading, wipes $17 billion off assets

Ron BoussoShadia Nasralla: JULY 30, 2020

LONDON (Reuters) – Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L) avoided its first quarterly loss in recent history, helped by a booming trading business, but announced nearly $17 billion in impairment charges reflecting a pessimistic outlook for oil and gas prices.

Shell had warned last month it was set to slash the value of its oil and gas assets by up to $22 billion as the coronavirus crisis hollowed out energy demand.

“Shell has delivered resilient cash flow in a remarkably challenging environment,” CEO Ben van Beurden said in a statement on Thursday. read more

Okpabi and others (Appellants) v Royal Dutch Shell Plc and another (Respondents)

Okpabi and others (Appellants) v Royal Dutch Shell Plc and another (Respondents)

Case ID: UKSC 2018/0068

Issue(s)

Whether and in what circumstances the UK-domiciled parent company of a multi-national group of companies may owe a common law duty of care to individuals who allegedly suffer serious harm as a result of alleged systemic health, safety and environmental failings of one of its overseas subsidiaries as the operator of a joint venture operation.

Facts

The Appellants (some 42,500 people) are citizens of Nigeria and inhabitants of the areas allegedly affected by oil leaks from pipelines and associated infrastructure, that SPDC operates on behalf of an unincorporated joint venture in which numerous participating interests are held, in and around the Niger Delta. The leaks are said to have impacted their lives, health and local environment. They contend that the Respondents are responsible. Royal Dutch Shell Plc (‘RDS’) is the parent company of the Shell group of companies, incorporated in the UK. The Shell Petroleum Company of Nigeria Limited (‘SPDC’, the other Respondent) is an exploration and production company incorporated in Nigeria and is a subsidiary of RDS. The claims against RDS and SPDC are based on the tort of negligence under the common law of Nigeria which, for present purposes, is to be regarded as the same as the law of England and Wales. The claim against RDS is brought on the basis that RDS owed the claimants a duty of care either because it exercised significant control over material aspects of SPDC’s operations and/or assumed responsibility for SPDC’s operations. RDS applied under CPR Part 11(1) for orders declaring that the court had no jurisdiction to try the claims against it, or should not exercise such jurisdiction as it had. At first instance Fraser J held that there was no arguable case that RDS owed the Appellants a duty of care. The Appellants appealed to the CA against the judgment and Order of Fraser J. The CA upheld the decision of Fraser J. The Supreme Court has since clarified the law in this area, including by reference to the CA’s decision in this case, in Vedanta Resources PLC and another (Appellants) v Lungowe and others (Respondents) [2019] UKSC 20. read more

Why I cut ‘severe’ dividend slasher Shell

Merchants (MRCH) fund manager Simon Gergel has cut the investment trust’s stake in Shell (RDSB) by a third in response to the oil company’s historic move to slash its dividend last month.

The Anglo-Dutch company cut its quarterly dividend by two thirds from 47 to 16 US cents at the end of April, as the coronavirus crisis precipitated the first such move since the second world war.

Shell’s decision shocked income fund managers two days after rival BP (BP) had chosen to maintain its own dividend. However, Gergel reiterated his view that the company’s changing plans were as much of a challenge to the investment case as the loss of income. read more

Bloomberg: The Next Chapter of the Oil Crisis: The Industry Shuts Down

Bloomberg News: Javier Blas: April 26, 2020

(Bloomberg) — Negative oil prices, ships dawdling at sea with unwanted cargoes, and traders getting creative about where to stash oil. The next chapter in the oil crisis is now inevitable: great swathes of the petroleum industry are about to start shutting down.

The economic impact of the coronavirus has ripped through the oil industry in dramatic phases. First it destroyed demand as lockdowns shut factories and kept drivers at home. Then storage started filling up and traders resorted to ocean-going tankers to store crude in the hope of better prices ahead. read more

Shaffiq Alkhatib: Court Correspondent: 3 Jan 2020

SINGAPORE – A former tanker captain linked to the largest gas oil theft that Singapore has ever seen has admitted to his role in the crime.

The Straits Times had earlier reported that 340,000 tonnes of gas oil worth over $200 million had been stolen over the years since 2014 from Shell’s refinery in Pulau Bukom, the largest petrochemical production and export centre in the Asia-Pacific region.

Nguyen Duc Quang, 48, received misappropriated gas oil worth more than US$7.3million (S$9.8 million) in all. read more

Shell Says We Have to Decarbonize Planet Earth

by  Andreas Exarheas: Rigzone Staff: Wednesday, November 06, 2019

We have to decarbonize planet earth in the coming decades.

That’s what Ed Daniels, head of strategy at Shell, stated during a presentation at Web Summit on Tuesday in Lisbon, Portugal, which was attended by Rigzone.

“I feel an immense amount of responsibility that our company along with governments and society has to do,” Daniels told audience members during the presentation, which included a Q&A session with Neanda Salvaterra, an energy reporter at The Wall Street Journal.

“I’m simultaneously energized and frightened by the scale of the challenge,” Daniels added. read more

Dutch court upholds Groningen gas production cap

Jan. 5, 2017 2:28 PM ET|By: Carl Surran, SA News Editor

A Dutch court today upheld a government decision to cap production at the Groningen gas field at 24B cm until Oct. 1, 2021, a step aimed at easing the risk of earthquakes triggered by drawing gas from the field.

The court was responding to requests for a preliminary injunction against the June decision, opposed by groups who sought a halt or a deeper cut to production at Groningen.

Output has been cut several times from 53.9B cm in 2013 amid criticism that Dutch authorities had failed to adequately assess the risk to citizens from earthquakes caused by gas production. read more
