I think the PR machine for the GTL flagship project in Qatar has done a poor job with respect to the “Green” tag that is being liberally applied.

Take a look at the presentation given in London in March 2004 which can be found from the link below.  I have copied fig 6 which gives the dimensions of the electrical and steam capacity needed and just look at the heat release from the process!!!  All this either ends up in the sea as cooling water or into the atmosphere as heat from gas turbines exhaust and boiler flues.
