Mail On Sunday: Shell faces court on Sakhalin venture

17 February 2008
By Lawrie Holmes

The use of hundreds of millions of pounds of taxpayer’s money to support Shell’s oil and gas projects on the Russian Island of Sakhalin will be attacked at a hearing of the High Court on April 22.

FROM A SHELL INSIDER

I think the PR machine for the GTL flagship project in Qatar has done a poor job with respect to the “Green” tag that is being liberally applied.

Take a look at the presentation given in London in March 2004 which can be found from the link below.  I have copied fig 6 which gives the dimensions of the electrical and steam capacity needed and just look at the heat release from the process!!!  All this either ends up in the sea as cooling water or into the atmosphere as heat from gas turbines exhaust and boiler flues.

SundayMail.co.uk: Shell Shock: Exclusive Workers Fear Rig Safety Crisis

Feb 17 2008 By Kurt Bayer

A BOSS sent oil workers a foul-mouthed email demanding they do overtime to tackle a safety crisis.

Maintenance head Jim Quinn asked staff on Shell’s Tern platform: “Is this a f****** 1960s car plant or shipyard?”

Quinn, who works for Shell support firm Sigma 3, seems frantic about a backlog of safety work and terrified of action by Government watchdogs.
