Shell consultants, RPS, said yesterday that a revised application will now seek minor realignments to part of the proposed route for the Corrib onshore pipeline, in order to avoid more sensitive habitat, including bog pools, in the Rossport commonage, identified during recent surveys. However, spokesman for community group, Pobal Chill Chomáin, John Monaghan, questioned how such surveys had been undertaken since there was a District Court order preventing Shell from carrying out such invasive works in the commonage.

Shell Ireland has announced that the ship which was intended be used in laying the controversial Corrib gas offshore pipeline is to be moved from Killybegs in Donegal to a port in the UK for repair work.
Equipment on board the Solitaire was accidently damaged off the Mayo coast last Wednesday, an hour before it was due to begin laying the first section of the pipeline.
It is now on its way to a deep water berth in Glasgow.
Separately, a special diving support vessel will be in Broadhaven Bay tomorrow to assist in the salvage of a 12m long 80-tonne section of Solitaire’s equipment.

Shell confirmed that the Solitaire would leave for the UK this evening.

A bomb left outside the Dublin offices of the energy giant Shell has been described as a sinister development by the company.
Irish Army bomb disposal unit carried out a controlled explosion on the device, which was discovered near the entrance to the offices of Shell E&P Ireland in central Dublin on Monday night.

Four people have been arrested during a protest by Shell to Sea campaigners in Co Mayo.
A Shell to Sea spokesman said 50 people were involved in the demonstration today on Glengad Beach.
He said one of those arrested is the son of Maura Harrington, who is on the fifth day of a hunger strike.
A Garda spokesman said three men and a woman were arrested this afternoon for public order offences.
All four are being held at Belmullet Garda station.
Ms Harrington (54) has said she will continue her hunger strike until the boat brought in by Shell to lay the Corrib offshore gas pipeline leaves Irish waters.

Local people have been alarmed to see so many police officers, and sinister figures in green rainjackets, who may be police (although the Irish Police, the Garda Siochána, usually wear blue) or could be Shell security or even members of the Irish Army.
