Shell are in the Arctic as we speak. They’re waiting eagerly for the greenlight, then they’ll start drilling deep into the sea floor, risking huge oil spills. That’s why we’re going face to face with the bosses who’ve the power to call it all off – at Shell’s London HQ right now.
Day after day, whether it’s as they’re going into work in the morning, or when they break for lunch – musicians will play one musical piece, with one message: stay out of the Arctic for good. It’s the longest single protest against Arctic oil drilling that Shell has ever faced.
Shell are constantly trying to keep their fingers in their ears, so now they’ve reached the Arctic we need to be louder than ever. Together we can amplify the music – every petition signature, every Facebook mention and every tweet will – literally – increase the volume of our Requiem for Arctic Ice. ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Aug 10, 2015: By DAN JOLING Associated Press
Royal Dutch Shell PLC has applied to amend its federal permit to allow drilling into oil-bearing rock in the Arctic Ocean off Alaska’s northwest coast.
Shell last month received permission to begin some drilling in the Chukchi (chuk-CHEE’) Sea but was banned from digging into petroleum zones roughly 8,000 feet below the ocean floor.
The federal Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement limited the permit then because equipment was not on hand to handle a possible well blowout.
The equipment is on the Fennica, an icebreaker that suffered hull damage July 3 in the Aleutians Islands. The repaired Fennica left Portland, Oregon, on July 30. read more

Royal Dutch Shell’s (RDSa.L) plans to build a strategic alliance with Russia’s Gazprom (GAZP.MM) could be in jeopardy after the United States added one of Gazprom’s biggest gas fields to its list of Russian sanctions on Friday.

Aug 5 (Reuters) – The new head of Nigeria’s state oil firm dismissed senior managers after a government directive, the company said on Wednesday, barely a day after President Muhammadu Buhari appointed him as managing director.
“All of the executive directors were let go … Buhari wanted a clean slate,” one of the dismissed managers said.
Buhari appointed a former executive of Exxon Mobil, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, to be the new head of NNPC on Tuesday, as part of a crackdown on corruption and mismanagement in Nigeria’s main revenue earner. read more
