Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA) said its speeding up work on a project to capture natural gas from oilfields in southern Iraq and that it has signed an initial agreement to develop a petrochemical plant based on ethane.
All hands on deck to catch up with time lost after more than a year of negotiations to sign the $17 billion gas-capture agreement ended in November, Mounir Bouaziz, Shells Middle East vice president for new business, said today at a conference in Istanbul.
Iraq is now flaring gas produced in association with crude oil because it lacks the infrastructure to use it as fuel for electricity plants or feedstock for the petrochemical industry.

The spectacle (photographs below) included a funeral procession led by a horse drawn funeral hearse with senior Nazis officials and senior Royal Dutch Shell directors in attendance, Nazi salutes at the graveside, swastika banners on display and wreaths and personal tributes from Adolf Hitler and Reichsmarschall, Hermann Goring. Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
