Deutsche Telekom’s enterprise customer unit, T-Systems, has secured the global hosting and storage section of a multi-sourcing contract with Royal Dutch Shell.

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 APRIL 2008 – German communications firm Deutsche Telekom’s enterprise customer unit, T-Systems, has secured the global hosting and storage section of a multi-sourcing contract, worth approximately RM 4.9 billion (US$1.54 billion) with multinational energy and oil group, Royal Dutch Shell.
The five-year agreement is part of a broader IT infrastructure programme for Shell, which requires T-Systems to manage the infrastructure and IT staff of Shell’s global data centres, including three centres in the Netherlands and one each in Malaysia and the U.S.
Malaysia will be the regional hub
According to T-Systems’s Singapore and Malaysia chief executive officer, Thomas Jakob, the service management and data centre in Malaysia will become its operational hub for the Asia-Pacific region.
“We are unequivocally committed to establishing ourselves in Malaysia and reaching out to the Asia Pacific region with world-class ICT services to meet the global requirements of multinational customers,” Jakob said. “In Asia-Pacific, T-Systems’ clients include Airbus, Bosch, Mitsubishi Motors, Infineon Technologies amongst others. Also, in January we were awarded Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) status in Malaysia.“
“We are delighted that Shell rewarded our commitment to their global IT needs with the largest contract in today’s market. Through this, we grow our international business while winning the confidence of Europe’s largest corporation”, says Reinhard Clemens, member of Deutsche Telekom’s Board of Management and T Systems’ chief executive officer.
“We see their (Shell’s) complex environment of over 7400 application servers as an exciting challenge to demonstrate flexibility in serving Shell in over 100 countries,” said Clemens.

Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
