GARETH MACKIE: Wednesday 23 March 2016
Oil and gas services giant Wood Group has secured a new three-year contract covering three Shell sites north of the Border.
The deal, which has the option to be extended for a further four years, will see Wood Group Industrial Services (WGIS) provide maintenance and site support at the St Fergus and Mossmorran gas processing plants in Aberdeenshire and Fife, as well as Braefoot Bay marine terminal near Aberdour.
Aberdeen-based Wood said the contract builds on its 20-year history supporting Shell on the assets.

WGIS managing director Hugh Pelham said: “This contract award is another example of Wood Group’s ability to deliver safe, more productive services. We are committed to leveraging our robust knowledge of the facilities and broad industrial services capabilities, towards the successful delivery of this contract.
“The onshore midstream oil and gas sector is a key growth area for WGIS; our 43 years of experience providing specialist, high quality industrial services, supporting the construction, maintenance, decommissioning and replacement of major industrial assets such as bridges, chemical plants, ships, oil rigs and power stations, positions us strongly to support clients in this sector.”
Today’s deal marks the second that Wood has secured with Shell this year. In January, its Kenny division began a three-year contract on Shell’s giant Prelude floating liquefied natural gas project in Australia – the first facility of its kind in the world.

Royal Dutch Shell conspired directly with Hitler, financed the Nazi Party, was anti-Semitic and sold out its own Dutch Jewish employees to the Nazis. Shell had a close relationship with the Nazis during and after the reign of Sir Henri Deterding, an ardent Nazi, and the founder and decades long leader of the Royal Dutch Shell Group. His burial ceremony, which had all the trappings of a state funeral, was held at his private estate in Mecklenburg, Germany. The spectacle (photographs below) included a funeral procession led by a horse drawn funeral hearse with senior Nazis officials and senior Royal Dutch Shell directors in attendance, Nazi salutes at the graveside, swastika banners on display and wreaths and personal tributes from Adolf Hitler and Reichsmarschall, Hermann Goring. Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
