Screen Shot 2013-09-04 at 23.17.33

On 15 September we will haul a giant people-powered polar bear through central London. Aurora is part protest, part performance – all Arctic. She is a giant super-puppet – the size of a double decker bus – and her fur carries the names of each and every member of the movement to save the Arctic.

See her transformation over the past couple of months from a design into a giant marionette.

You can walk with her on 15 September – find out more here.

Shell Oil Sued for Millions for Pollution Fraud at 12 NH Gas Stations

Screen Shot 2013-02-17 at 22.12.49“Because Shell deliberately misled the Fund into reimbursing expenses which should not have been reimbursed, and because the Fund has a subrogation right with respect to the divested sites at which Shell retains primary liability for pollution, the Fund has filed this lawsuit to recover its expenditures, including interest and attorney fees and seeks enhanced compensatory damages,” reads the lawsuit, which brings a total of five counts against Shell, including right to full repayment, breach of contract, fraud, unjust enrichment, and statutory subrogation.

Issues at a Salem gas station are part of the reason why the N.H. attorney general is going after Shell to recoup fraudulently-obtained funds.

London Shell Centre Project to Be Reviewed by U.K.

U.K. Communities Secretary Eric Pickles asked to review plans to redevelop the site of Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA)’s London headquarters near the London Eye Ferris wheel.

Pickles asked to study the plans because the project may affect the Parliament area on the opposite side of the River Thames, the Communities Department said in a statement today.

“Ministers are very selective about calling in planning applications and only take this step if planning issues of more than local importance are involved,” the department said in the statement. “The process will include reviewing all relevant considerations, including the design and any potential impact on the UNESCO World Heritage site by Parliament Square.” read more

The former Garda, who retired in the aftermath of the furore over him making comments in which he spoke about raping female campaigners in Garda custody, is now seeking a total of €70,000 from Pat O’Donnell. The defamation case stemmed from a protest on the 3rd of November 2006 in which James Gill alleged that Pat O Donnell accused him of stealing diesel and smuggling tyres. Pat O’Donnell denied accusing Gill of these things however Judge Heneghan sided with Sgt Gill. read more
