Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) has earmarked an annual N445 million for the development of its host communities in DAA3 Cluster of Degema, Akuku-Toru and Asari-Toru Local Government areas of Rivers State.
The amount is expected to be paid annually for a period of five years with effect from this year and in three installments of N148.3 million per installment, payable in every February, June and November. But signatories to the account should be the respective host communities’ CDB, Rivers State Government representative and SPDC representative.
SPDC Sustainable Community Development Manager, Mr. Emmanuel Etomi made this known at the signing ceremony of the Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) between SPDC and DAA3 Cluster, held in Port Harcourt.
According to him, the GMoU model represents a new paradigm in SPDC’s efforts to continuously improve its community interface, management process and practice.
In his speech, the Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Deacon Clapton Ogolo, who was represented by Deaconess Daniel-Kalio commended the efforts of SPDC in involving the communities in the development of their areas.
The commissioner charged the communities to judiciously use the sum for the even development of their respective communities, and cautioned them against misuse of the money. He also urged them to create a conducive peaceful environment for SPDC operations to thrive.
On behalf of DAA3 Cluster, Chief Iworima Brown thanked SPDC for its gesture and for keeping to the agreement as contained in the GMoU.

Royal Dutch Shell conspired directly with Hitler, financed the Nazi Party, was anti-Semitic and sold out its own Dutch Jewish employees to the Nazis. Shell had a close relationship with the Nazis during and after the reign of Sir Henri Deterding, an ardent Nazi, and the founder and decades long leader of the Royal Dutch Shell Group. His burial ceremony, which had all the trappings of a state funeral, was held at his private estate in Mecklenburg, Germany. The spectacle (photographs below) included a funeral procession led by a horse drawn funeral hearse with senior Nazis officials and senior Royal Dutch Shell directors in attendance, Nazi salutes at the graveside, swastika banners on display and wreaths and personal tributes from Adolf Hitler and Reichsmarschall, Hermann Goring. Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
