I wonder when we are going to see the next phase of (inevitable) consolidation in the industry.

Shell has been the bridesmaid for so long it would be rather nice to see it at the altar – a Shell/Total merger would seem entirely sensible.

It would also allow a floor to ceiling re-vamp of the Shell culture, which is still too introspective and defensive. They can keep the pecten, it still means something, although retail is a tragedy in the making, just entirely re-tool the company.
