Shell makes deepwater breakthrough in Malaysia

THE HAGUE, Netherlands, Dec. 14 (UPI) — Tapping the deep-water oil prospects off the coast of Malaysia is indicative of the confidence of growth from those basins, Royal Dutch Shell said.

Shell said it started oil production from the Malikai facility about 60 miles off the coast of Malaysia. It’s the company’s second such project in Malaysia and the first of its kind for Shell outside the U.S. waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

Andy Brown, a director for exploration and production for Shell, said in a statement the start of operations in deep Malaysian waters marks a milestone for the company. read more

Royal Dutch Shell Plc is considering a sale of its stake in a Malaysian liquefied natural gas export plant, which could fetch more than $1 billion, people familiar with the matter said.

Shell is gauging interest in its 15 percent stake in MLNG Tiga Sdn., which owns an LNG terminal in Sarawak on the island of Borneo, according to the people. The sale may draw interest from private-equity firms, the people said, asking not to be identified as the process is private. Malaysia’s state-owned Petroliam Nasional Bhd., which holds 60 percent of MLNG Tiga, has pre-emptive rights on the stake, one of the people said. read more

Shell Schools: Supporting Expat Families

by  Jon Mainwaring: Rigzone Staff: Thursday, June 21, 2012

A key concern for many oil field workers, whether based offshore or onshore in a remote location, is how to maintain a family life – particularly if the oil worker has a young family.

For a worker based out of Aberdeen, Scotland operating in the North Sea is a straightforward deal: several weeks of well-paid work on a rig followed by a few weeks of quality time at home with the family.

Regular, quality time with your family becomes a bit more complicated if you are working halfway across the world from them. Oil and gas operations in remote locations often do not have the kinds of facilities nearby that are required by a young family. read more

SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)–Oil major Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSB.LN) said Monday it has signed two production-sharing contracts with Malaysia’s state-owned oil and gas company Petroliam Nasional Bhd. for enhanced oil recovery projects offshore Sarawak and Sabah.

The two companies had agreed in November to jointly develop the oil fields in Malaysia using enhanced oil recovery techniques, in a project that was valued at $12 billion, Petronas had said then.

The project is expected to help the Malaysian national explorer extract a greater portion of oil from its existing reserves and extend the life of its oil fields. read more

Petronas, Shell in $12 Billion Oilfield Development Deal

NOVEMBER 11, 2011

By GURDEEP SINGH

SINGAPORE—Malaysia’s state-owned oil and gas company Petroliam Nasional Bhd. said Friday that it has agreed with Royal Dutch Shell PLC to jointly develop oilfields in Malaysia using enhanced oil recovery techniques.

The companies say the $12 billion project will help the Malaysian national explorer extract a greater portion of oil from its existing reserves and extend the lives of its oilfields.

The Malaysian company, also called Petronas, has been grappling with shrinking output from aging fields and targets capital expenditure of 50 billion ringgit-55 billion ringgit ($15.89 billion-$17.47 billion) a year over the next five years to replace and refurbish them. read more

Royal Dutch Shell interfering with politics

Interfering with politics

Improper involvement?

Oil and politics have a lot to do with each other. The home states of Royal Dutch Shell are the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. These countries might want to secure their oil/gas imports and the economic benefits of having an international oil company based within their territory. These interests might overpower ethical interests, such as the protection of human rights in countries hosting the oil company. Home states often might have the same business interest than “their” oil companies. read more

Shell CEO: China Shale Gas a Big Opportunity

Anglo-Dutch energy giant, Royal Dutch Shell has been pushing into China’s energy market. The company has been deepening ties with state-owned China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) and subsidiary PetroChina to explore and develop natural gas in the nation. In an exclusive broadcast interview with CNBC’s Christine Tan on Managing Asia, CEO Peter Voser says China looks set to surpass the U.S. and Canada in the supply of shale gas.

Q. How useful have your partnerships been with leading energy companies like Petrochina in giving you access into China, one of the world’s biggest energy markets?

I think it has developed extremely well. We are working with CNPC and PetroChina within China, but also globally. I think the success here is based on a win-win partnership, inside and outside China. If you only focus on what you can do inside China, and not let these companies participate on the global stage, I think this will not be successful. So we are combining with CNPC’s technologies to (extend) the global range. We are in Australia, Syria and Qatar. We have shale gas acre-age in China, and we do R&D together. We have similar partnership with Qatar Petroleum. read more

After EIGHT companies within the Royal Dutch Shell Group collectively buried him in legal proceedings, including multiple injunctions, as part of a draconian defamation action in respect of allegations published on this website, former Shell production geologist, Dr John  Huong begun assembling evidence to substantiate that the allegations were true.

His efforts were hampered by sinister activities by Shell and repeated attempts by the Shell collective to have him committed to prison for alleged contempt of court in respect of further publications on this website. Sabah can review oil deal with Petronas

INTRO BY JOHN DONOVAN: Royal Dutch Shell, in bed with a thoroughly corrupt dictatorship regime in Malaysia and its state-owned puppet oil company, Petronas, has plundered the mineral riches of Malaysia for many decades. Same evil exploitation policy as in Nigeria – Shell will deal with the devil if that’s what it takes to extract the hydrocarbon riches, which rightly belong to the people. And this has continued even under the fiction of a claimed ethical code. Sabah, one of 13 member states of Malaysia, has become the poorest in the country despite its massive mineral riches. Part of Shell Brent Bravo oil platform falls into North Sea

I just read about the Brent ‘incident’. That ‘little problem’ should have been taken care of through a preventive maintenance inspection program long ago. Sea water is not only highly corrosive to steel, but cyclical loading caused by wave action can induce fatigue failure. Believe it or not, the useful life of an airplane or a submarine is determined by the number of pressurization cycles the fuselage or hull goes through. Oil tankers have a useful life based on the number of stress cycles the hull has undergone. Oil tankers have split in half because of hull fatigue failure. read more

Dr Huong defence against Royal Dutch Shell defamation action

It will soon be apparent to our readers from the extracts below, why Shell settled the Dr Huong litigation out of court. A very considerable pile of extremely smelly internal dirty laundry that Shell definitely did not want aired in open court, even in Malaysia.

By John Donovan

Dr John Huong, a former Shell geologist of almost 30 years standing was the FIRST SHELL employee to blow the whistle on the Shell reserves fraud (and other important issues relating to the misdeeds of Royal Dutch Shell management). He was not prepared to tolerate  the lives of Shell employees being recklessly put at risk.

As a result Shell was determined to silence him at all costs. Hence the unprecedented spectacle of EIGHT Royal Dutch Shell companies collectively bringing a defamation action against one former employee – an unemployed Malaysian who had no prospect whatsoever of finding alternative employment in his profession while the litigation cloud hung over the heads of himself and his family for several years. read more

Furthermore, in the UK RD Shell must prove their case in court and obtain a similar form of court order against Dr. Huong and you in order to prevent Dr. Huong from speaking out publicly, and you from publishing his comments. Prohibited words of a Royal Dutch Shell whistleblower

WISE WORDS OF SHELL WHISTLEBLOWER DR JOHN HUONG PROHIBITED FROM PUBLICATION BY THE MALAYSIAN COURTS

I will supply for publication further informed comment and revelations in the run up to Shell’s AGM… It will include examples of the toxic combination of  arrogance, greed, dishonesty, and blatant disregard for all ethical norms by Shell Management, that has culminated in the current shame heaped on the once proud Shell name.

In my experience Shell directors and Shell managers believe that truth is a precious commodity to be used as a last resort.  It has to be squeezed out of them. They prefer to deceive, make empty pledges (Shell’s code of ethics), intimidate, ostracize, hide information from their own shareholders, employees, the government who gave them the license to operate and, and finally retreating behind their army of lawyers for shelter whenever there is a prospect that management misdeeds will be exposed. read more

The federal government is ignoring a time bomb waiting to explode,  the largest army ammunition depot placed beside (2 Major Housing Areas) Taman Melor , Taman Orkid, 2 Schools and lands belonging to the general public with an estimated population of 5000 to 7000 in the said 2 Housing Areas areas.
