Shell proposes multi billion dollar LNG project
14 February 2019
Shell and its joint venture (JV) partners are officially seeking approval to develop the Crux gas field off the coast of Western Australia.
With JV partners Seven Group and Japan’s Osaka Gas, Shell has submitted a proposal – estimated to be worth more than $2 billion – to the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority to develop the field, located approximately 160 km northeast of the Prelude field in WA’s Browse Basin.
The proposal consists of an unmanned platform and five production wells, with minimal processing and utility systems tied back to the existing Prelude FLNG facility via a 26 inch (660 mm) 165 km export pipeline.
The JV intends to operate the Crux development remotely from Prelude.
Front-end engineering and design works are intended to commence this year and a final investment decision (FID) is targeted for 2020.
The project is anticipated to take around five years to construct once an FID is made and is anticipated to have a 20-year design life.
Shell commenced production at the neighbouring Prelude in December last year.

Royal Dutch Shell conspired directly with Hitler, financed the Nazi Party, was anti-Semitic and sold out its own Dutch Jewish employees to the Nazis. Shell had a close relationship with the Nazis during and after the reign of Sir Henri Deterding, an ardent Nazi, and the founder and decades long leader of the Royal Dutch Shell Group. His burial ceremony, which had all the trappings of a state funeral, was held at his private estate in Mecklenburg, Germany. The spectacle (photographs below) included a funeral procession led by a horse drawn funeral hearse with senior Nazis officials and senior Royal Dutch Shell directors in attendance, Nazi salutes at the graveside, swastika banners on display and wreaths and personal tributes from Adolf Hitler and Reichsmarschall, Hermann Goring. Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
