Action being taken in respect of sinister revelations in Shell emails

By John Donovan

The situation becomes ever more sinister regarding Shell’s reaction to this website royaldutchshellplc.com

On 4 December, an Internet security expert for a prominent US newspaper received an email purportedly from me – [email protected]. In fact, I sent no such email. It related to revelations contained in the Shell emails released to us under the Data Protection Act, and to the US National Cyber Forensics and Training Alliance. The expert is investigating.

Within the documents Shell lawyers supplied in our first DPA application in 2007, was a Shell internal email dated 9 March 2007 revealing that a counter-measures team was being set up inside Shell and that it had decidedly hostile intent towards us and our website. read more

From a leaked Shell email: More Shell Appointments under Voser Restructuring

By John Donovan

Shell’s attempts at stemming the flow of leaked Royal Dutch Shell confidential information to this website using external security organizations, involving sinister “invisible” (covert) activity, has self-evidently been less than successful. The flow has increased substantially over recent months, as regular visitors and Shell management will have noticed.

THE MOTIVA MAFIA

It appears that the involvement of “external contacts”, with FBI connections, resulted from concern in June 2009 over postings on our Shell Blog relating to Tom Purves, a Shell / Motiva Vice President.  Mr Purves and his alleged cronies, collectively described as “The Motiva Mafia”, have been the subject of serious allegations from our contributors and remain the target of hostile postings. read more

Let’s accelerate pace of new energy technologies

Times Online

Peter Voser, Viewpoint

The Times: December 5, 2009

We are seeing early signs of a far-reaching shift in our world’s energy system. Desire for secure energy supplies and concern over global warming have consumers, companies and governments embarking on a long journey towards a more sustainable energy future.

Government policymakers are in the best position to accelerate our trip. Starting with the climate change summit in Copenhagen this month, they will largely determine whether society steps on the throttle or idles along at the current speed. Building a new energy future will take huge effort. But it will be a boon for consumers, thanks to a great proliferation of energy types, from cleaner fossil fuels to renewables, such as biofuels, wind and solar, to nuclear and hydrogen. Everything from cars to fridges will be much more efficient than what we know today. read more

EMAIL CORRESPONDENCE WITH LAWYER REPRESENTING ROYAL DUTCH SHELL GROUP AND ALL ITS EMPLOYEES

COLIN JOSEPH, FORMERLY SENIOR PARTNER AT DJ FREEMAN

COLIN JOSEPH, FORMERLY SENIOR PARTNER AT DJ FREEMAN

By John Donovan

Were you a Shell employee in 2002? If so, were you aware that Colin Joseph (right), a London lawyer retained by the Royal Dutch Shell Group, claimed that he also represented you and indeed every Shell employee within the Group. Over 100,000 people.

Printed below is self-explanatory email correspondence with Joseph which concluded on 2 December 2009.  I now know from the documents just supplied to me by Shell that “invisible” investigations involving outside specialist agencies have once again been directed at us by Shell. Shell refuses to comment even after repeated attempts by Reuters to find out what is going on. We will publish, within the next 24 hours, relevant Shell emails concerning the latest skulduggery.

ASSOCIATED PRESS

3 December 2009

THE HAGUE — Oil giant Anglo-Dutch Shell and its Nigerian subsidiary went on trial before a civil court here Thursday for a pipeline leak in 2005 alleged to have caused widespread environmental and social damage.

“The crude oil which poured for days from the pipeline damaged the environment, destroyed crops and made fishing impossible,” said Michel Uiterwaal, lawyer for the Friends of the Earth Netherlands and for two Nigerian villagers, who jointly brought the case. read more

Farmers sue Shell over oil spills in Niger Delta

The Independent

By Sarah Arnott

Thursday, 3 December 2009

Four Nigerian farmers will launch a ground-breaking pollution claim against oil giant Royal Dutch Shell in a court in The Hague today.

The farmers’ case alleges that three separate oil spills from Shell’s operations contaminated fields and fishing ponds in villages in the Niger Delta, destroying the claimants’ livelihoods. But today’s hearing is to consider the more arcane question of whether a Dutch court has jurisdiction over activities in another country. read more

Shell critic says oil major targeting his website

Reuters UK

Wed Dec 2, 2009 3:04pm GMT

By Tom Bergin

LONDON, Dec 2 (Reuters) – A prominent Internet critic of Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L) says the oil major has asked an anti-cyber fraud agency to target his site, which Shell admits provides better information on the group than its own internal communications.

John Donovan, who runs the Royaldutchshell.plc website, where disaffected Shell employees post company news and gossip, said the move suggests Shell has adopted more aggressive tactics in its long battle to shut him down. read more

He claims the aim is to try to uncover who has leaking to his site. The feud dates back to the 1990s, when Shell was a client of Mr Donovan’s sale promotion business. read more

Global Oil Glut Roils an English Tourist Village

Mr. Kennard is worried about a fleet of oil tankers -- almost 40 in all, each packing hundreds of thousands of barrels of crude and oil-derived products -- that have anchored several miles off the coast of southeast England in recent months. The heavy traffic stems from a near-record excess oil supply, a byproduct of the recession, that is prompting producers to stash oil offshore until they can find customers. The excess supply hasn't stopped oil prices from surging almost 80% this year and padding the pockets of big oil producers like Royal Dutch Shell PLC and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

4 Nigerians Sue Shell In Dutch Court Over Alleged Oil Spills

The Alien Tort Claims Act is routinely used in the U.S. against global corporations--notably in the oil industry--for alleged environmental or human-rights violations abroad. But a court case brought by four alleged Nigerian victims of Shell oil spills, in conjunction with Friends of the Earth Netherlands, "is the first time in history that a Dutch company has been brought to trial before a Dutch court for damages abroad," the Remember Saro-Wiwa campaign, an environmental rights organization, said in statement.

THE CORPORATE HACKER AT ROYAL DUTCH SHELL

By IT4me Posted on Dec 1st, 2009 at 11:36 pm

THE CORPORATE HACKER

The story of Gary McKinnon (the Scottish hacker who penetrated US defence security) reveals different attitudes on either side of the pond. The prevailing US reaction might be caricatured as “Guantanamo is too good for him” while in the UK, it’s more like “OK it’s a crime, but remind me again why all those military computers didn’t have passwords ?”. If tried in the UK, McKinnon would likely face the judicial equivalent of a chinese burn. Extradited, he faces a lengthy jail sentence. read more
