LONDON -(Dow Jones)- The U.K. safety watchdog has upheld all but one complaint made by Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSB.LN) workers on facilities it intends to sell, trade unions said Thursday.
In a press statement, unions Unite and OILC said complaints sent in September have been upheld by the Health and Safety Executive, or HSE, except one.
The unions said Shell had been neglecting safety on several platforms in the North Sea platforms up for sale – Cormorant Alpha, Dunlin Alpha, Tern, Eider and North Cormorant.
The unions said they had submitted “formal complaints to (the HSE) regarding manning levels, specifically in safety critical areas; staff competency; workloads; shortages in fire teams; and the general health and morale of the workforce.”
The regulator upheld all complaints except one, saying it “could find no evidence during the course of an inspection offshore that Emergency Response Team numbers were deficient in any way.”
As a result of the complaints being upheld, the union said Shell will be asked to address areas such as “including the issue of working hours in their assessment of staff numbers and fatigue” or to “produce a unified competency standard for all staff.”
Shell and the HSE couldn’t be reached for comment.

Royal Dutch Shell conspired directly with Hitler, financed the Nazi Party, was anti-Semitic and sold out its own Dutch Jewish employees to the Nazis. Shell had a close relationship with the Nazis during and after the reign of Sir Henri Deterding, an ardent Nazi, and the founder and decades long leader of the Royal Dutch Shell Group. His burial ceremony, which had all the trappings of a state funeral, was held at his private estate in Mecklenburg, Germany. The spectacle (photographs below) included a funeral procession led by a horse drawn funeral hearse with senior Nazis officials and senior Royal Dutch Shell directors in attendance, Nazi salutes at the graveside, swastika banners on display and wreaths and personal tributes from Adolf Hitler and Reichsmarschall, Hermann Goring. Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
