Manati gathers pace PETROBRAS and Norse Energy have accelerated development on the Manati gas project off Brazil by bringing in a second jack-up rig. Jack-up rig P-13 has joined PA29 to drill and complete seven wells on Manati in offshore block BCAM-40, where Norse Energy has a 10% stake from Petroserv. PETROLIA Drilling has secured another contract from Island Oil ' Gas for its only semi-submersible rig for work offshore Ireland in 2007. The Petrolia rig is on tow to Ireland to drill the Inishbeg exploration well for the London-listed oil firm on the Donegal licence. PIONEER Natural Resources has found oil in the Cronus exploration well in Alaska and is running wireline logs over two reservoir sequences. In March, Dallas-based Pioneer failed to find hydrocarbons on its Hailstorm well south of Prudhoe Bay. It has started to drill on the Antigua prospect. SHELL is joining the power generation sector in Russia after approving a $55m project to build a gas-fired power plant at its West Salym oil field in Siberia. The facility will supply power from associated gas production and will halt flaring. OILEXCO has failed to find hydrocarbons on its $5m Joy exploration well in the North Sea and is about to start drilling the Disraeli prospect with the Bredford Dolphin semi-submersible rig in block 21'23b. The Canadian independent is paying 95% of the well costs to gain a 65%-85% stake in the block. |
