VIENNA — Even as United Nations climate-conference delegates met near Paris on Friday seeking ways to reduce the globe’s dependence on high-carbon fuels like oil, some of the world’s biggest petroleum producers vowed to keep pumping flat out.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries said on Friday that it would keep producing oil at current levels, which are estimated to exceed 31 million barrels a day. read more

Four local residents have initiated a legal challenge to the Environmental Protection Agency’s decision granting Shell E&P Ireland an Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Licence (IPPC)for the Corrib gas refinery in Co Mayo.
The EPA granted the IPPC licence for the Bellanaboy Bridge gas terminal, a gas refinery and large combustion plant designed to process 9.9 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
When operational, the refinery will treat gas transported via a 65km pipeline from the offshore Corrib gas field before it is discharged via a pipeline into the existing Bord Gais gas network. read more

Oil majors sprang a leak but airlines flew higher after Middle East oil cartel Opec failed to slash production.
Shares in BP fell 8.85p to 359.7p and Royal Dutch Shell surrendered 29.5p to 1599.5p as the oil-producing club opted to keep pumping near-record volumes of crude.
The price of a barrel of Brent crude was 0.8 per cent down at $43.49 and the cost of US light crude dropped nearly 2 per cent to around $40 amid fears of a continued supply glut. read more
