Just five days after an equipment failure at the Shell/Motiva plant caused massive flares to shoot flames and leak thick black smoke into the air above St. Charles Parish for days on end, the Norco chemical complex announced on Thursday morning that it had lost power in the second plant malfunction of the week. In a release, Shell Chemical representatives warned Norco residents of more flaring and high levels of smoke.
“Early this morning, one of the units at the Shell / Motiva Norco Manufacturing Complex experienced a power loss due to a power supply interruption and electrical breaker malfunction. As a result we are experiencing elevated flaring accompanied by heavy smoke,” the release read. “We are working with Entergy to restore power to the affected substations as quickly as possible. This unit upset is separate from the issue that caused elevated flaring earlier this week.”
As of noon today, plant representatives are reporting that the flare is currently clean, and not emitting smoke; the warning of possible elevated levels of smoke in the future, however, is still in place.
The release assures residents that no injuries have been reported, and that “air monitoring results indicate no environmental impact at this time.”

Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
