STATEMENT BY ROYAL DUTCH SHELL PLC
Wednesday, December 10, 2008
As part of an ongoing strategy of portfolio management, Shell Petroleum NV (Shell) has successfully completed the sale of its 50% shareholding in Refineria Dominicana de Petroleo, S.A.
(REFIDOMSA), for a total value of $110 million, to the Government of the Dominican Republic, who is now the sole owner of the refinery. This concludes a share purchase agreement signed on 5 August 2008.
The REFIDOMSA refinery was commissioned in January 1973. With a processing capacity of some 34,000 barrels per day, it is the primary petroleum products refinery in the Dominican Republic and, along with its import terminal, supplies most of the fuel requirements in the country.
This decision to sell the shareholding is part of Shell’s active portfolio management to realise value for shareholders, and to refocus the downstream portfolio.
Shell will continue to serve its customers in the Dominican Republic in a range of businesses including Retail, Lubricants and Commercial marketing.

Refineria Dominicana de Petroleo, S.A. (REFIDOMSA)
The Refineria Dominicana de Petroleo, S.A. (REFIDOMSA) was a joint venture owned 50% by Shell affiliates and 50% by the Government of the Dominican Republic.
The refinery capacity is 34,000 barrels per day and has a hydro-skimming configuration. All the processes are conventional and well-proven in the petroleum industry. REFIDOMSA is the primary petroleum products refinery in the Dominican Republic and, along with its import terminal, supplies most of the fuel requirement in the country. The refinery was commissioned in January 1973 and since that time there have been no major process units added. However, tank capacity and import facilities for finished products have been added to meet the increased domestic demand. In addition, in 1992 the refinery commissioned its own power generation plant resulting in an improvement in the overall plant reliability.

Royal Dutch Shell conspired directly with Hitler, financed the Nazi Party, was anti-Semitic and sold out its own Dutch Jewish employees to the Nazis. Shell had a close relationship with the Nazis during and after the reign of Sir Henri Deterding, an ardent Nazi, and the founder and decades long leader of the Royal Dutch Shell Group. His burial ceremony, which had all the trappings of a state funeral, was held at his private estate in Mecklenburg, Germany. The spectacle (photographs below) included a funeral procession led by a horse drawn funeral hearse with senior Nazis officials and senior Royal Dutch Shell directors in attendance, Nazi salutes at the graveside, swastika banners on display and wreaths and personal tributes from Adolf Hitler and Reichsmarschall, Hermann Goring. Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
