Nearly 1,000 workers have signed a petition to energy giant Shell complaining about unfair treatment of catering and drilling staff.
It will be handed to bosses at Royal Dutch Shell in the Netherlands tomorrow.
Transport and General union boss John Taylor said the company’s decision not to extend the improved rotas to these employees had serious safety implications.
He claimed construction contract workers were given the better terms because it had been difficult to recruit them.
And he argued all Shell’s contract workers were entitled to the same rota arrangement – a two-week-on, two-off, then two-on four-off system.
Members of the union have organised tomorrow’s delegation to the Hague.
A postcard campaign has seen hundreds of complaints sent to Shell chief executive Jeroen van der Vee.
A T &G spokesman said: “The hope is he will overturn Shell’s original decision when he sees it is not only those excluded but every one on the Shell units who believes safety should not be limited to certain contract employees.”
A spokeswoman for Shell UK said: “We are aware the T &G is questioning offshore working cycles of catering contractor employees working on its installations in the northern and central North Sea.”

Royal Dutch Shell conspired directly with Hitler, financed the Nazi Party, was anti-Semitic and sold out its own Dutch Jewish employees to the Nazis. Shell had a close relationship with the Nazis during and after the reign of Sir Henri Deterding, an ardent Nazi, and the founder and decades long leader of the Royal Dutch Shell Group. His burial ceremony, which had all the trappings of a state funeral, was held at his private estate in Mecklenburg, Germany. The spectacle (photographs below) included a funeral procession led by a horse drawn funeral hearse with senior Nazis officials and senior Royal Dutch Shell directors in attendance, Nazi salutes at the graveside, swastika banners on display and wreaths and personal tributes from Adolf Hitler and Reichsmarschall, Hermann Goring. Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
