WARRI—SHELL Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) rural electrification project in Ojobo community in Delta State has sunk the community into deeper internal crisis as the project commissioned last week covered only a part of the community while the other part remained in darkness resulting protest.
Problem allegedly started when those in darkness insisted that the generator powering the community be switched off until all parts of the community is covered, a requested that was stoutly resisted that led to a free for all fight though no life was lost.
When Vanguard contacted the contractor handling the project, S.O. Andafa Nig Ltd, they explained that that was the scope of work awarded to them by the SPDC covering only 4-kilometers while the Ojobo community is about 8 kilometers and called on the SPDC to increase the scope of work to enable the whole place enjoy the benefit of the gesture, otherwise the people would be in perpetual crisis over the light issue.
He stated that from the dispute caused by the situation, SPDC re-entry programme in the area might be jeopardized.
The traditional ruler of the Ojobo Federated communities, HRH, Chief Bola L. Owan, the Amananaowei of Ojobo has called for peace and understanding amongst his subjects even as he appealed the SPDC to extend the electricity project to all the nooks and crannies of the community, adding “let your blessing add no sorrow to the community”.

Royal Dutch Shell conspired directly with Hitler, financed the Nazi Party, was anti-Semitic and sold out its own Dutch Jewish employees to the Nazis. Shell had a close relationship with the Nazis during and after the reign of Sir Henri Deterding, an ardent Nazi, and the founder and decades long leader of the Royal Dutch Shell Group. His burial ceremony, which had all the trappings of a state funeral, was held at his private estate in Mecklenburg, Germany. The spectacle (photographs below) included a funeral procession led by a horse drawn funeral hearse with senior Nazis officials and senior Royal Dutch Shell directors in attendance, Nazi salutes at the graveside, swastika banners on display and wreaths and personal tributes from Adolf Hitler and Reichsmarschall, Hermann Goring. Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
