Canada’s Centurion Energy has flowed gas from one exploration well and will abandon another well in Egypt’s Nile Delta.
The Luzi-1 exploration well in the West El Manzala block flowed 9 million cubic feet of gas per day from the Lower Abu Madi formation where the company had hit 35 metres of net pay.
A 10-metre net gas column in the Upper Abu Madi was not tested to avoid compromising the planned Lower Abu Madi completion though it will likely be opened for production later in the well’s life.
Centurion made the decision to plug and abandon the Hurani-1 exploration well, also located in West El Manzala, after it failed to find commercial gas shows.
Meanwhile, the company has completed the EW-13 development well on the El Wastani field as a gas producer.
The well had hit 25 metres of net pay in the Lower Abu Madi and 23 metres of pay in the Qawasim formation and had flowed at a maximum rate of 17.3 million cubic feet of gas and 290 barrels of condensate per day before it was tied back for production.
Shell has a 50% stake in West El Manzala while Centurion has a 100% interest in El Wastani.

Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
