Kuwait signs $12bn LNG supply deal with Shell

KUWAIT May 11 (Reuters) – Kuwait’s state oil group said it signed a six-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply deal with Royal Dutch Shell on Sunday, worth an estimated $12 billion, as the major oil exporter seeks to meet energy demands for the hot summer months.

(MQG) and Glencore Xstrata Plc (GLEN) dropped out of bidding for Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA)’s Australian oil refinery and filling stations, according to four people with knowledge of the matter. The assets Shell is selling include storage terminals, filling stations and an oil refinery in Geelong, south of Melbourne. Shell is stepping up asset sales after new Chief Executive Officer Ben van Beurden promised last month to cut capital spending following the company’s first profit warning in a decade. read more

Shell’s leadership develops the best people to secure global future energy

Stephan Scholz, Shell’s Vice President – Human Resources for Middle East and North Africa outlined Shell’s approach to leadership development models and transition over the past decade.

Mr. Scholz was speaking at the Kuwait Oil Company’s third Sharing Best Practices Conference which is taking place from 13th to 14th of May 2012.

As the world becomes more uncertain with significant emerging economies, future leaders will need to equip themselves with a number of leadership competences and skills to enable them to deliver their vision.

Mr. Scholz reflected on the current global environment and shared Shell leadership development model in his key note speech, and said: “Shell operates in a complex, fast-paced and networked world. Shell Egypt NV and Shell Austria GmbH (collectively “Shell”) and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company ksc (KUFPEC) today announced that an agreement has been reached for the sale to KUFPEC (R) Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of KUFPEC) of Shell’s 40 per cent stake in the BG operated Rosetta Concession in the Nile Delta, some 65 kilometres offshore Egypt, including the currently producing gas field and onshore/offshore plant.

The transaction is expected to be completed later this year, subject to all necessary Egyptian and Kuwaiti approvals, as well as the pre-emption and approval rights of partners in the concession. The terms of the transaction remain commercially confidential. read more
