Shell’s bid for two new pipelines rejected

By Kelly Cryderman, Calgary Herald March 10, 2011

In a rare move, the province’s energy regulator has rejected Shell Canada’s application for two new pipelines at the company’s Waterton field site in southwestern Alberta.

But the Energy Resources Conservation Board ruled late Wednesday that Shell Canada will be allowed to drill a new sour gas well in the area and add a fuel-gas compressor.

The board added that given the way that the company has operated its existing infrastructure in the area 20 kilometres west of Pincher Creek, it has not demonstrated that it has followed its own procedures. read more

Canadian family poisoned by Shell gas flaring?

By John Donovan

This is an update of our articles relating to the Getz family who claim that they were poisoned by Shell gas flaring.

Donna Getz sought the intervention of the Oil and Gas Commission Board in Canada only to discover that Shell has a representative on the board.

She is seeking justice and according to our unofficial expert sources appears to have a strong case.

We have also published related information supplied to us by a Shell Canada insider.

Shell has a track record of supplying toxic products deadly to insects, crop pests and humans… Shell employees at a drins’ production plant were even used as guinea pigs in a related study of carcinogenic properties carried out by the Royal Dutch Group. Brands such as “Shell TOX” were banned years ago.

Canadian family allegedly poisoned by Shell gas flaring

The following information is generated from emails received from Donna Getz, who alleges that Shell has poisoned herself and her husband as a result of gas flaring. This article has been updated with related correspondence, including a letter from Shell, plus Medical Reports and Gas Flaring and Gas Analysis Reports.

Donna sought the intervention of the Oil and Gas Commission Board in Canada only to discover that Shell has a representative on the board. She is seeking justice and according to our expert sources appears to have a strong case. Donna urgently needs good legal representation on a “no win no fee” basis. Her email address is available on request from John Donovan: [email protected]

Extract from comments received from an expert who has seen the evidence: “Shell tested and flared gas from their well under inappropriate meteorological conditions, in violation of their flaring permits, either deliberately or through negligence. The end result was the harm suffered by the Getz’s.” read more

Comments on Donna Getz allegations against Shell

“Those poor people are being ‘f** over ‘ by Shell twice. First from the physical damage from the breathing of the acid produced by the flaring of production gases, and now financially.”

Donna Getz’ account of problems following a well test mirror an event in Drenthe in Holland when production from a sour gas (H2S) well was released during a well test during the 1980?s, causing a herd of cows in an adjacent field to drop dead. I don’t think it even made the Dutch news after the farmer and local community were reminded of the importance of Shell (NAM) to the local economy. I’m sure there are plenty of readers of this site who can provide additional information.

Comment received from a former employee of Shell USA

I read the Getz story. It sounds like the Shell well was producing large amounts of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas that is extremely poisonous. The gas would either be mixed in with natural gas, if the well was a gas well, or in solution in the oil and then liberated as gas along with other gases that come out of solution when oil is produced. The hydrogen sulfide gas it the ‘rotten egg’ gas, but you can only smell in the air very small concentrations, a few 10′ of parts per million. Richer concentrations typically don’t smell. I know, I have had direct experience with H2S at well locations. read more

Donna Getz allegations against Shell

The following information is generated from emails received from Donna Getz, who makes self explanatory allegations against Shell and other parties.

Read your articles about Royal Dutch Shell.  It makes me sick what they can get away with.

I am going to tell you what happened to myself and my family.

We were caretaking a ranch near Tumbler Ridge, BC about six years ago. We were looking after their horses and ours. We never received payment for this.

Unknown to us, Shell Oil was drilling a well 3 km across country from us.

When they started to flare the well, something went wrong.  We got hurt from this. The spruce trees had golden patches on them, the leaves on the cottonwood turned upside down, the game left or died. Four of our horses died over time from this and we have one that is still wheezing from it. I have 30% lungs left, my husband and daughter 50% left.  Our truck we had at the time, rusted out on one side. read more
