Last Wednesday The Irish Times reported that Shell E&P Ireland has begun two months of testing at its north Mayo onshore refinery in preparation for next year’s scheduled production from the Corrib gas field.
I understand from a usually well informed source that the testing is being carried out without an Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Licence.
According to my source, the licence expired on 14 November 2014.
Irish Citizens please take note: I further understand that there is provision under the Irish Environmental Protection Agency rules for any citizen to seek a High Court order where an activity is being carried out in contravention of licensing requirements.
Shell may have once again forgotten that the Corrib gas project is in Ireland, not Nigeria.

Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.

One thing that must be said regarding the so called Irish government is how see and wide are their pockets the on going problem is this country is this issue not and I reiterate in saying this the natural beauty of our landscape and country is sadly manipulated and disregarded specifically to the hands of a company who portray an image that can only be seen as totally and utterly clueless and money mad. It is hardly surprising that Shell would embark upon a process of “testing” without the appropriate License(s) and Consent(s) being in place but it should be truly shocking that the Irish State would embark upon a process of conniving in turning a blind eye to such unlawful behaviour. That the Irish State does connive in turning such a blind eye on this type of illegal operation is an indictment not just of the Minister having responsibility for Natural Resources and Energy but also of the entire of the “Civil” Service engaged in this area of State responsibility and of the Statutory Authority having responsibility for ensuring that such testing only take place within the confines of a lawfully in force License for the Refinery.
