LONDON, Sept 6 (Reuters) – Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L: Quote) has been in exclusive talks with Finnish fuel distributor St1 to sell its downstream business in Finland and Sweden, the oil major said on Monday.
“It is about selling our downstream business in Sweden and Finland, and it includes the Gothenburg refinery in Sweden,” a Shell spokesman said.
The Gothenburg refinery can process about 78,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
St1 is privately held and runs petrol stations across Scandinavia.
The oil major has been looking for buyers for other refineries in Europe as a part of its plan to divest about 15 percent of its refining assets.
The talks followed an agreement Shell reached in late August to sell its Heide refinery in Germany to billionaire Gary Klesch.

Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
