Generation – Future U.S. demand for natural gas will mostly be driven by power companies using more of the fuel to generate electricity, Andrew Slaughter, a business environment manager for Royal Dutch Shell PLC, said Wednesday.
“I think the power sector is really the key to the gas market,” Slaughter said at a conference in Washington hosted by the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
For companies building power plants, units fired with natural gas are “very competitive” with those fuelled by coal, Slaughter said. New gas-fired generation “competes to a price that’s well north of $6” per million British thermal units because it is more efficient and produces less pollution than coal, he said.

The spectacle (photographs below) included a funeral procession led by a horse drawn funeral hearse with senior Nazis officials and senior Royal Dutch Shell directors in attendance, Nazi salutes at the graveside, swastika banners on display and wreaths and personal tributes from Adolf Hitler and Reichsmarschall, Hermann Goring. Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
