Dear Mr Wiseman
Can you please let me know if Shell used asbestos in their coal gasification plant in Dong Ting?
If yes, did Shell decide to remove the asbestos (providing a safe working environment) or did Shell decided for cost reasons to take no further action?
Who will take care of the asbestos during operation and maintenance?

Why is asbestos dangerous?
Breathing in air containing asbestos fibres can lead to asbestos-related diseases, mainly cancers of the lung and chest lining.
Who is at risk?
Anyone who comes into contact with fibres can be at risk. Those who will be at particular risk are those who may disturb asbestos, anyone whose work involves drilling, sawing or cutting into the fabric of premises could potentially be at risk. The scientific evidence on exactly what exposures of asbestos cause disease is unclear, but it is known the more asbestos fibres breathed in, the greater the risk to health.

Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
