April 3 (Bloomberg) — Royal Dutch Shell Plc and StatoilHydro ASA want to transfer gas from new field developments in the Norwegian Sea to the Nyhamna processing plant, news agency NTB reported, citing Shell’s director of exploration and production in Norway Tore Holm and StatoilHydro vice president for reserves Hege Marie Norheim.

The Luva field, operated by StatoilHydro, and Shell’s Onyx field may be the first new developments to start transferring gas to Nyhamna, which processes fuel from Ormen Lange, NTB reported in a an article published in newspaper Finansavisen.

Luva holds an estimated 38 billion standard cubic meters of gas, while Onyx has an estimated 68 billion cubic meters of gas, NTB reported. An Onyx development plan may be submitted to parliament in 2011, the news agency said. Shell wants to work with StatoilHydro on transportation solutions and would consider investing in expanding Nyhamna, NTB said.
