Installation Of Shell Perdido SPAR Make Way For World Deepest Subsea Well
August 25, 2008
Perdido will be a fully functional oil and gas platform with a drilling rig and direct vertical access wells, full oil and gas processing and remote subsea wells. The facility is designed to produce 100,000 barrels of oil per day and 200 million standard cubic feet of gas. The production from these fields will be transported via new and existing pipelines to US refineries.
The Perdido spar was constructed by Technip in Pori, Finland and began its 13,200-kilometre journey from Finland to Texas in May 2008 and arrived in the Gulf of Mexico in August 2008. It is currently being secured to the sea floor. The topsides that sit on the hull are being constructed in Ingleside, Texas by Kiewit. Meanwhile, the Noble Clyde Boudreaux is currently on sitelocation drilling the development wells. There will be 22 direct vertical access wells from the spar, with an additional 8 tiebacks from subsea completions.
