Top figures from the worldwide oil and gas industry will be in Aberdeen at the start of September for the Offshore Europe show.
Leading the debate will be Mark Carne, managing director and executive vice-president for Europe and central Asia for BG Group, who is the conference chairman.
Joining him in the opening session will be: Malcolm Brinded, executive director for exploration and production at Royal Dutch Shell; David Lesar, chairman, president and chief executive at oilfield service giant Halliburton; Robert Olsen, chairman and production director at ExxonMobil; and Frank Chapman, chief executive at BG Group.
Mr Carne said: “I am very pleased to say that we have an extremely strong line up of industry speakers for the opening plenary session.
“Mr Brinded and Mr Olsen will be looking at the state of the industry from the global operators’ perspective, while Mr Lesar will be addressing similar questions from the service sector, which should make for a very interesting dynamic between the oil company and contractor perspectives.
“Then Mr Chapman will be talking about the ways in which the international gas markets are changing as gas, in part, becomes a commodity traded on a global basis.
Mr Carne added: “And we are hoping that the new minister responsible for energy, Malcolm Wicks, will round out the plenary session with a view of British energy policy on the global stage.
“There are a range of perspectives on how the industry will look forward that are being offered here by a powerful group of people.
“We hope that these speakers will set the stage for what I expect to be a great dialogue both among the speakers and with the audience.”
Offshore Europe is being held at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre from Tuesday, September 4, to Friday, September 7.
The price of oil fell by as much as a dollar a barrel yesterday on easing petrol supply concerns during peak demand in the US.
London Brent crude for September delivery settled down 76 cents at 75.53 a barrel, having traded as low as 75.03 earlier in the day.

The executive director of one of the world’s biggest oil firms was awarded an honorary degree yesterday.
Malcolm Brinded CBE, was given the honour at a Robert Gordon University’s graduation ceremony yesterday.
Born in the UK, Mr Brinded studied at Cambridge University where he achieved a first-class engineering degree.
He joined Shell in Holland in 1974 and his career has tracked the highs and lows of the oil price. Appointed to the Shell board in 2002, Mr Brinded runs the global exploration and production business for Royal Dutch Shell.

Royal Dutch Shell conspired directly with Hitler, financed the Nazi Party, was anti-Semitic and sold out its own Dutch Jewish employees to the Nazis. Shell had a close relationship with the Nazis during and after the reign of Sir Henri Deterding, an ardent Nazi, and the founder and decades long leader of the Royal Dutch Shell Group. His burial ceremony, which had all the trappings of a state funeral, was held at his private estate in Mecklenburg, Germany. The spectacle (photographs below) included a funeral procession led by a horse drawn funeral hearse with senior Nazis officials and senior Royal Dutch Shell directors in attendance, Nazi salutes at the graveside, swastika banners on display and wreaths and personal tributes from Adolf Hitler and Reichsmarschall, Hermann Goring. Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
