Dear All,

I have recently read about this website (www.royaldutchshellplc.com) in Prospect magazine (free article at this address:

http://www.prospect-magazine.co.uk/article_details.php?id=8209).

The site does not seem to have come to the attention of this board before, but it seems to have an impact on some aspects of RDS operations.

What do you mean by but it seems to have an impact on some aspects of RDS operations ? There are numerous websites having a pop at companies like Shell.

This website is run by a chap by the name of Alfred Donovan who has had a dispute with Shell going back donkey’s years concerning a UK consumer promotion that he claims that Shell ripped off without recognising his input. Try a quick google search.

He’s obviously revamped the website since I last looked, some years ago. He used to picket Shell Centre on occasion too. I’m surprised he’s still at it.

Leither.

The point is developed in the Prospect article. It has to do with the Russians and the Sakhalin story: when they wanted to build up an environmental case against the Shell operations there was plenty of insider-based data available from the site which helped the Russians to put on pressure. If true, this was very expensive for Shell.

Apologies, I’d had a peek at the royaldutchshellplc website, but not at the Prospect article. Having read it, it’s an interesting angle but the logic that directly attributes the website with costing Shell billions of dollars is not wholely credible IMHO.

I’m trying to imagine Vladimir Putin sitting with his people grappling with a dilemma:

Vlad: So, I promised Alexey a slice of the action in Sakhalin. We agreed to try and hit Shell with some environmental aggro….but we can’t yet make it stick. What have we tried so far?

Vlad henchman No. 1: Well boss, we’ve had the FSB on it for months; intercepted SEIC’s mail and phone calls; no joy so far.

Vlad henchman No. 2: Yes, we’ve had our guys staking out every bar and strip joint in Yuzhno for months…still no loose talk

Vlad: [Mutters] If you want a job doing….strewth, the KGB has gone to the dogs since I left. Right, let’s fire up google……blimey, this should do the trick. [phone keypad tapping] Hello, is that Mr Donovan? Vladimir Putin here. I think we should talk…

These individuals might be interested to learn that our involvement with the Russian government did in fact start with me contacting President Putin…

The hard evidence my son John Donovan later supplied directly to the so called Kremlin attack dog, Oleg Mitvol, has already cost Shell over $22 billion based on the cut of 400,000 barrels in reserves relating to Sakhalin-II announced by Shell last week (calculated at $56 per barrel).

Mitvol has publicly confirmed our role.

And yes, the Russian security services were involved (as confirmed by Mitvol)

Who’s laughing now…

You will see that it has also had a major impact in moving forward the major class action lawsuit against Shell in respect of the reserves fraud.

Please also note that the site is one of two recommended by Fortune magazine: the other is www.shell.com

PS. I will be 90 years old in April and yes I am still speaking out about Shell. And that is not an April Fools joke. As Shell will confirm.
