Itar-Tass: Russia’s Lavrov to present energy diplomacy at conference

MOSCOW, September 14 (Itar-Tass) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will speak at the 10th international conference Oil and Gas of Sakhalin on September 27.

He will present in his report “priorities of Russia’s energy diplomacy on the Eastern track, including prospects for deliveries of fuels to countries of the Asia Pacific region”, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

About 300 chiefs of major oil and gas companies of Europe, the US, China, Japan, other Asian courtiers, and of Africa and Latin America have confirmed the participation in the forum.

The conference, a traditional floor of which until is London, will be held this time in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on September 27-28.

The Sakhalin region’s governor Ivan Malakhov has long sought this.

Sakhalin could become a main supplier of hydrocarbon fuel to APR countries from 2008.

A gas liquefaction plant with a capacity of 9.6 million tons a year is being built on the island.

Energy companies of Japan, the US and South Korea have already bought the blue fuel for 20 years ahead.

The oil output on Sakhalin could reach 15 million tons a year with the putting in operation of five offshore oil platforms of Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 projects.

Projects Sakhalin-3 and Sakhalin-5 are actively developing.

Explorative drilling is done at present from China’s platform Kantan 3 and Britain’s’ Legent.
