HOUSTON, Sept 4 (Reuters) – Shell Oil Co.’s joint-venture 334,000 barrel-per-day refinery in Deer Park, Texas, shut a catalytic reformer early on Monday for a weeklong overhaul, according to notice filed with the state pollution-regulation agency.
Deer Park Refining L.P., which is a 50-50 joint venture between Shell and Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex), Mexico’s national oil company, began shutting the reformer on Sunday evening, according to the notice filed with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
The unit, which creates a high-octane motor fuel using hydrogen, was shut early on Monday morning and restart is scheduled to begin on Friday, according to the filing.
Shell Oil is the U.S. subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell Plc. (RDSa.L: Quote, Profile, Research).

The spectacle (photographs below) included a funeral procession led by a horse drawn funeral hearse with senior Nazis officials and senior Royal Dutch Shell directors in attendance, Nazi salutes at the graveside, swastika banners on display and wreaths and personal tributes from Adolf Hitler and Reichsmarschall, Hermann Goring. Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
