(BNamericas.com) – Anglo-Dutch oil major Shell (NYSE: RDS-B) has started implementing its New Shell Fuel Economy Formula gasoline at Chilean service stations, the company said in a statement. Chile is the first country in the Americas to receive the gasoline as part of Shell’s global campaign to distribute the fuel.
The fuel is more efficient as a result of decreased friction and improved motor cleanliness and already is in use in Australia, Malaysia, Germany, Holland, Norway, Denmark and Finland, according to Shell.
As an example of the fuel’s efficiency, the company points to an Australian couple that participated in Shell’s “fuel economy challenge.” While traversing the globe using Shell’s new fuel, the couple got 22 kilometers a liter in a car that normally averages 15.
Although the car obtained nearly 50% more fuel efficiency, Jose Avaria, Shell brand and communications manager for Argentina and Chile, told BNamericas in an email that efficiency would depend on a host of factors, including the style of driving, climate as well as the type and condition of the vehicle, among others.
The company plans to fully implement the fuel in Chile’s 334 Shell service stations through August 21, Avaria said in a presentation.
Shell decided to launch the product in Chile as a result of the country’s competitive market and intends to use its Chilean base as a launching point for ventures into other Latin American countries, Avaria said in the email.

Royal Dutch Shell conspired directly with Hitler, financed the Nazi Party, was anti-Semitic and sold out its own Dutch Jewish employees to the Nazis. Shell had a close relationship with the Nazis during and after the reign of Sir Henri Deterding, an ardent Nazi, and the founder and decades long leader of the Royal Dutch Shell Group. His burial ceremony, which had all the trappings of a state funeral, was held at his private estate in Mecklenburg, Germany. The spectacle (photographs below) included a funeral procession led by a horse drawn funeral hearse with senior Nazis officials and senior Royal Dutch Shell directors in attendance, Nazi salutes at the graveside, swastika banners on display and wreaths and personal tributes from Adolf Hitler and Reichsmarschall, Hermann Goring. Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
