Huge profits has propelled Exxon Mobil Corp. to the top of the 2006 Fortune Global 500 list, and pushed aside Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to the No. 2 spot on the magazine’s annual ranking of global largest 500 companies.
The list, which will published in Fortune’s July 24 issue, pegs Exxon Mobil’s 2005 revenue at about 340 billion U.S. dollars, with profits of 36 billion. Wal-Mart made a profit of about 11 billion dollars on revenue of 316 billion.

Rounding out the top 10 on the list were Royal Dutch Shell; BP; General Motors; Chevron Corp; Daimler Chrysler; Toyota Motor Co.; Ford Co and ConocoPhillips.
In terms of profitability among the 500 firms, Exxon Mobil was at the top, followed by Royal Dutch Shell (25.3 billion dollars); Citigroup (24.6 billion dollars); BP (22.3 billion dollars); Bank of America (16.5 billion); General Electric (16.4 billion) and HSBC Holdings (15.9 billion).

The spectacle (photographs below) included a funeral procession led by a horse drawn funeral hearse with senior Nazis officials and senior Royal Dutch Shell directors in attendance, Nazi salutes at the graveside, swastika banners on display and wreaths and personal tributes from Adolf Hitler and Reichsmarschall, Hermann Goring. Deterding was an honored associate and supporter of Hitler and a personal friend of Goring.
Deterding was the guest of Hitler during a four day summit meeting at Berchtesgaden. Sir Henri and Hitler both had ambitions on Russian oil fields. Only an honored personal guest would be rewarded with a private four day meeting at Hitler’s mountain top retreat.
