ShellNews.net: Email to Shell International General Counsel, Richard Wiseman: Wednesday 3 MAY 2006

Dear Mr Wiseman

It was gracious of you to come out of the Shell Centre with several of your colleagues this morning to greet my leaflet distributors in such a friendly way.  I hope that you remain in the same happy mood after you read the “Open Letter” addressed to you.

Nick was pleased to see you again. As you may recall, whilst still a teenager and with no legal qualifications whatsoever, he represented Don Marketing throughout the SMART High Court trial, much to the amusement of Geoffrey Hobbs QC, the barrister representing Shell. Nick sat almost next to you for the whole three weeks of the trial but was not called on to speak one word, other than to confirm his name. He was offered no opportunity to represent DM in a proper way. The Judge ignored him.

As you may recall, although Shell was suing me for £100,000 (I was a young man of 81 at the time) I also had no legal representation, no doubt due to the same tactics used by Shell in respect of John’s legal aid which was withdrawn after the legal aid board received a letter from Shell which contained incorrect information.

As I am sure you would agree it was a most unusual trial.  For a variety of reasons, some set out in the leaflets, it must have been one of the most one sided and unfair civil trials ever held in the Royal Courts of Justice.

In answer to your question this morning to Nick, I did recently enjoy my 89th birthday. I am sure you hope that I have many more of them. The other leaflets mentioned in the “open letter” addressed to you can be viewed on www.shellnews.net and www.royaldutchshellplc

The leaflets will be distributed for the rest of this week at your Shell Centre offices and for the whole of next week at the HQ building of ROYAL DUTCH SHELL PLC in The Hague. They will also be distributed at the forthcoming Shell AGM before a team returns to the Shell Centre with new leaflets.

Health permitting, I hope to visit the Shell Centre at some point this week to help with the leaflet distribution and provide a photo opportunity.

Finally, I want to make it plain for the record that Dr Huong has had no involvement of any kind in the leaflet campaign. He had no advance knowledge of my plans or in regard to the content of the leaflets. The same applies to members of “Team A”, the 399 former Shell employees suing Shell in Malaysia for making unlawful deductions from their retirement funds.

Regards

Alfred Donovan
