Northern Netherlands Trembles as Gas Extraction Triggers Quakes Aug. 29 (Bloomberg) — Arie de Langen says he never thought he’d have to worry about earthquakes in his northern Dutch village of Sappemeer.

Quakes were unheard of and homes in the dozens of towns and villages that dot the region were built with wooden frames and beamed roofs. Then a venture between Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Europe’s No. 2 oil company, and Exxon Mobil Corp. began extracting natural gas in the region, triggering land shifts. read more

Another alleged case of IP theft hits Royal Dutch Shell

By John Donovan

Whilst trawling through cases filed against Shell on the U.S. Court system electronic records, I came across a claim filed on 17 April 2012.

Our own problems with Shell arose from the serial theft of ideas we disclosed to the company in strictest confidence. We had to sue four times over a period of several years. Shell eventually settled all of our claims, but only after we were besieged by unethical activity designed to intimidate our witnesses and frighten us into abandoning the litigation. read more

The Inspector General will also be aware of cost issues bearing in mind deteriorating income from North Sea Platforms and may be concerned that his former employer will return to its notorious “Touch F*** All” safety culture on its remaining platforms, including senior management approved falsification of safety records.
