Kern River Holdings Files Lawsuit Against Shell Trading

HOUSTON, Dec. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Kern River Holdings Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of San Antonio-based All American Oil and Gas Inc., has filed a breach of contract claim against Shell Trading (US) Co., a Houston-based affiliate of Royal Dutch Shell. 

The lawsuit, filed in Harris County District Court, alleges that Shell Trading failed to take delivery of crude oil shipments and improperly sought to deny responsibility for service interruptions when the company-owned San Pablo Bay Pipeline suffered a rupture in May of 2016 that spilled more than 20,000 gallons of oil near Tracy, California.  read more

A senior executive at Shell has predicted a bright future for the North Sea into the next decade and beyond. Steve Phimister, upstream vice president for the UK and Ireland for the multinational oil giant, said the company had no plans to sell off any more assets in the region.

Speaking at an event in Aberdeen yesterday he said: “We have, in the last year, conducted quite a significant divestment of a package of assets. It’s been done very intentionally and very clearly with an intention to focus on our core business. read more

Shell to take first LNG shipments from new U.S. Cove Point plant

LONDON, Dec 6 (Reuters) – Royal Dutch Shell will take the initial cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipped from Dominion Energy’s new Cove Point export facility in Maryland after providing the plant’s feed gas supply, Dominion Energy said on Tuesday.

So-called commissioning cargoes during the ramp-up phase of an LNG export plant can vary in quality and teething problems can prompt delays.

Dominion said it began introducing feed gas supply into the plant on Tuesday. The gas is sourced from Shell North America, it said. read more

Shell hopes to make investment decision on Penguins ‘shortly’

Highlights from the year included the sale of a package of North Sea assets to Chrysaor and the arrival of the Brent Delta platform in Hartlepool for scrapping.

Shell hopes to make a final investment decision (FID) on redeveloping the Penguins area “shortly”.

Mr Phimister said Penguins was on track to be the “first cab out of the rank” next year. read more

Shell, Deloitte say North Sea needs to ‘kick on’ with collaboration quest

Nick Clark, Deloitte director, consulting, said the sector had been forced to adopt collaboration having gone through “a year of wait and see”.

Mr Clark was speaking at Oil and Gas UK’s breakfast briefing event at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.

Oil and Gas UK (OGUK) and Deloitte used the event to launch their 2017 UKCS Upstream Supply Chain Collaboration Survey.

A total of 95% of operators and suppliers said collaboration was an integral part of their day-to-day business, up from 86% in 2016. read more
