Ann Pickard, who has transformed Royal Dutch Shell into the most aggressive oil and gas player in Australia, is set to leave her powerful Perth-based post to look after the Anglo-Dutch giant’s ambitions in the Arctic Circle.

Shell is thought to have informed staff overnight that the well-regarded Ms Pickard would quit Perth in June and move to the US, most likely Houston, to take up a newly created role as executive vice-president, Arctic.

The new role reflects Shell’s view that Ms Pickard is well suited to tackling the myriad technical and environmental challenges of operating in the Arctic Circle, based on her track record in Australia and before that Nigeria. Shell, which is due to report its first-quarter profit result on Thursday, yesterday would not comment on Ms Pickard’s move. read more

Royal Dutch Shell wins huge UAE gas deal

Anglo-Dutch company Shell has beaten France’s Total to a multi-billion-pound deal to develop a gas field with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

The two companies will develop the Bab field, a potentially tricky project because it contains so-called sour gas, a poisonous and foul smelling product.

The project, which could be worth about $10bn (£6.5bn), requires highly sophisticated technology to develop.

Prime Minister David Cameron said it was a “fantastic outcome” for Shell. read more

By James Paton:April 29, 2013

Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA), Europe’s largest oil company, plans to name Ann Pickard as head of its Arctic operations, moving her from the helm of the Australian business, a person with knowledge of the matter said.

Pickard, a former Shell executive in Nigeria who became chairwoman of Shell’s Australian business in 2010, is set to start in the new position on June 1, according to the person who asked not to be named because the details haven’t been made public. Andrew Smith, vice president of Shell’s refining and marketing business, will replace Pickard in Australia, the person said. read more

Pickard Teleportation into an Arctic Role

Screen Shot 2013-04-30 at 15.58.59I have provided links to secret US cables/articles exposing Shell’s infiltration of the supposedly sovereign Nigerian government and the involvement of Pickard in all manner of murky goings on, including trading intelligence information with the Americans.  Ann Pickard will be arriving with more baggage than a Samsonite factory.

Ann Pickard, currently the chairman of Shell Australia, is being sent to resuscitate Shell’s Arctic plans and rescue its reputation.

She is being appointed as Group Executive Vice President of Exploration & Production in the Arctic, replacing the disgraced Lawrence of Alaska.

Peter Voser must have concluded that she is a safe pair of hands.

I beg to differ.

Has he forgotten the debacle over her indiscreet bragging to the Americans about Shell’s sinister corrupting activities in Nigeria, including infiltrating Shell agents into every Nigerian ministry? read more

Dear Detective Superintendent John Gilligan

As I am sure you are aware, we have over the past several several months published a series of articles (headlines below) relating to the supply by Shell E&P Ireland of free alcohol to the Irish police, on what we have described as being on an industrial scale. We understand that the legitimate retail cost in Ireland for the river of free booze could approach €100,000 euros. So it’s not small beer. read more
