May 31 (Bloomberg) — More than 500 truck drivers who work at Royal Dutch Shell Plc terminals across Britain may go on strike in a dispute with their employer, German logistics company Hoyer Group, the South Shields, England,Gazette newspaper reported.

The drivers, members of the Unite union, voted yesterday in favor of a strike in a contract dispute over pay, the newspaper reported, citing Unite’s road transport secretary. The drivers, who make 34,000 pounds a year ($67,000) are seeking a pay raise of 2,000 pounds, the newspaper said.

A Unite union spokeswoman didn’t return phone calls, and a Hoyer spokesman couldn’t be reached.

Shell said in a statement that it’s not involved in the negotiations and urged both sides to reach a “speedy agreement.”
